PLUS Loans for Parents

PLUS (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Student) is a federally guaranteed, variable rate loan that covers your undergraduate, dependent child's education, less any financial aid.

Eligibility for PLUS new student loans:
  • A US Citizen or permanent resident
  • Securing a loan for their full-time or half time dependent
  • undergraduate student
  • Have a credit worthy score meeting minimum lender requirements
  • Not in default on loans in any SFA (student financial aid) program


STAFFORD Loans for Students

Stafford is a federally guaranteed, variable rate student loan that covers all or part of your undergraduate and graduate education. Stafford rates are currently set at 4.70%.

Eligibility for Stafford new student loans:
  • Enrollment at least half-time as determined by the school
  • US Citizenship or eligible residential status
  • Satisfactory academic progress as determined by the school
  • Not in default on any federal education loans


Consolidation Loans for Students/Graduates

Eligibility for Stafford new student loans:

Parents and grads must have:
  • Federal college loans
  • At least $10,000
  • Loans in grace, payment, deferment
  • Loans not "in-school"
Type of loans eligible for consolidation:
  • Sub or Unsub Stafford/ Direct
  • PLUS (parent loans)
  • Perkins or Nursing Loans
  • Supplemental (SLS/ALAS)
  • Consolidation (and new loan)
